Job summary

Metro-North Railroad, part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, seeks a Power Lineman to install, inspect, test, repair and maintain high-tension power and feeder systems and support structures along its lines.

You will climb, work at heights, and operate live equipment up to 27,000 volts, obtaining clearances and following strict safety protocols. CDL and OSHA 1910.269 training are valued; safety sensitive union position with wage progression.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience with electrical work or safety training preferred.
• Climbing and working at heights required.
• Ability to obtain roadway worker qualification.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety program and follow procedures.
• Attend training to maintain qualifications.
• Perform roadway worker protection duties as needed.
• Recognize electrical hazards and use PPE appropriately.
• Obtain electrical clearances and perform LOTO protection.
• Work on switching, testing, and grounding up to 27,000 volts.
• Install and maintain high voltage components on transmission structures.
• Operate cranes, CMVs, and aerial devices as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
