Are you an experienced electrician with specialized skills in high-voltage electrical systems? The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is offering an exciting opportunity just for you! As a High Voltage Electrician, you will expertly handle various skilled tasks involving voltage levels up to 66,000 volts. This encompasses installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining different electrical machinery, devices, and associated equipment. Our team will rely on you to proficiently work with complex electrical systems, splice underground wires, test standby generators, and troubleshoot electrical issues to ensure seamless service. Your commitment to safety is paramount, and you will strictly adhere to established procedures and safety guidelines while working with advanced equipment. You will also play a crucial role in efficiently operating diverse components within the electrical generation and distribution system.

Your duties for this role will occur in key locations, including the Harrisburg Capitol Complex, the Governor’s Residence, the Lieutenant Governor’s Residence, and the Regional Office Buildings. You will confidently navigate challenging environments, often working at heights exceeding 60 feet on small platforms and confined spaces, such as manholes and vaults. Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full‑time employment
• This is a 5 day per week, 16 hour per day operation subject to shift work. Work shifts are 7.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Successful completion of a High Voltage Electrician Training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Six years of journey‑level electrical experience, including eighteen months of experience in high voltage electrical work.

Special Requirement:

• You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License which is not under suspension.

Condition of Employment:

• You must possess a valid Master Electrician License from the City of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Additional Requirements:

• This position is located at 509 North 7th Street, Harrisburg, PA. You must be willing and able to report to this location daily for work.
• You must be willing and able to work different shifts.
• You must be able to work in confined spaces.
• You must have at least 18 months industrial/commercial style switchgear experience.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Possess computer/technologies experience in any of the following: Word, Excel, AIM work order, ESS system, smart phone, email
• Experience working from ladders, scaffolding, bucket truck, or manlifts while following safety procedures
