Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Branford, CT is seeking a High Temp Loader/Unloader for a 3rd shift. The role involves loading and unloading blades, vanes, and other OEM parts into high-temperature furnaces, and supporting the furnace operator with controls and monitoring.

You will follow work instructions, ensure parts are properly masked, complete required paperwork, and maintain a clean, safe work area in a loud, industrial shop environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review work instructions for each job assignment to ensure compliance.
  • Load parts into chambers/baskets/tooling according to instructions.
  • Inspect parts to ensure proper masking and uniformity.
  • Remove masking solids after processing if required.
  • Prepare and complete paperwork (Routing, etc.).
  • Move chambers/baskets/tooling using lift devices and cranes.
  • Remove and inspect parts as processes complete and return to cartons.
  • Enter cycle ramps, soak times, and cycle times per process sheets; monitor temperatures.
  • Complete related paperwork (routers, logs) as work progresses.
  • Use safe containerization methods for hazardous waste.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Follow safety rules and wear protective equipment.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

Responsibilities
Job Summary

We are currently looking for a candidate to fill the role of High Temp Loader/Unloader for a 3rd shift opening. The responsibilities of this position will involve loading and unloading various blades, vanes, and other OEM parts into and out of High-Temperature, Heat Treat, and Vacuum Furnaces. Additionally, the duties will include backing up the furnace operator on setting and monitoring furnace controls. All training necessary to successfully perform these jobs will be provided in-house by Howmet.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review work instructions, stored electronically and written in English, for each job assignment to ensure compliance with product requirements.
  • Load parts in an orderly manner into applicable chambers/baskets/tooling and media according to the work instructions.
  • Inspect parts to ensure they are properly masked and are uniform before submitting to the process.
  • Depending upon the process, workers may be required to remove masking solids from parts after the process is completed.
  • Prepare and complete paperwork covering areas of responsibility (Loading Diagrams), ensure sample/test piece is properly placed within containers, and verify accuracy of documentation submitted (check the part number, quantity, and order number against material received).
  • Move filled chambers/baskets/tooling using designated lift devices/hoists/cranes/mobile equipment. Attach thermocouples/gas lines/etc. as instructed.
  • As processes are completed, the operator will remove and inspect parts and place them back into the cartons they were originally received.
  • Fill out all related paperwork, i.e., routers and/or internal records following PMS and Activity Instructions.
  • Properly enter Cycle Ramp Rates, Soak Times, and Cycle Times per Process Sheets. Monitor temperature level until the proper temperature is reached. Fully understand all operations of furnaces to ensure minimal deviation from the process and correct process is run.
  • As work is completed, complete all related paperwork i.e., routers, daily log sheets, etc., following standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to use proper and safe containerization methods for all hazardous waste.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Adhere to all company safety rules and practices and wear protective equipment as directed.
  • Perform other job duties as needed or directed by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year manufacturing experience required.

  • This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three plus years of manufacturing experience highly desired.
  • Experience running manufacturing equipment, reading charts, operating PLC's, advanced math skills, and leadership qualities preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence or documentation.
  • Good math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Good organizational skills in maintaining a variety of records and reports.

Salary & Benefits

  • Starting salary $22.00; 3rd Shift Differential (while working 3rd shift) $2.00 per hour
  • External hires are eligible for a $1,000 sign on bonus.
