Job summary

Samtec, Inc. in San Diego/Vista, CA, is seeking a High-Speed Optoelectronic Transceiver Design & Development Engineer to own the design of high‑speed optical transceivers, including component selection, PCB layout, signal integrity, and device characterization across 25G to 800G data rates.

The role demands strong RF-optics expertise, hands-on testing with RF and optical equipment, and leadership in prototype bring-up and production transitions at a global interconnect leader.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in high speed optoelectronic transceiver product design.
• Familiar with RF design tools (e.g., Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS) and optical simulation software (e.g., Zemax, OptiSystem).
• Hands-on experience with RF and optical test equipment - signal generators, vector network analyzers, BER testers, optical spectrum analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-speed optoelectronic transceiver products.
• Model and simulate RF and optical subsystems to predict performance.
• Integrate RF components with optical elements into cohesive assemblies.
• Perform hands-on testing and validation of prototypes with RF and optical tools.
• Troubleshoot RF-optical interactions and optimize link budgets.
