Job summary

Samtec, Inc is seeking a High-Speed Optoelectronic Transceiver Design & Development Engineer to own the design of high-speed optical communication transceivers. You will select opto-electronic devices, design PCBs, ensure signal integrity, and drive prototypes from bring-up through validation.

The role requires 4+ years in RF-optics systems, hands-on testing, and expertise with ADS/HFSS tools. Preferred locations are Silicon Valley Santa Clara or San Diego/Vista with relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in high speed optoelectronic transceiver product design with a focus on integrated RF-optics systems.
• Hands-on experience with RF and optical test equipment and measurement techniques.
• Familiar with RF design principles and high-speed link concepts (NRZ/PAM4, SerDes, jitter).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-speed optoelectronic transceiver products optimizing bandwidth, signal integrity, link budget, and power efficiency.
• Model and simulate RF and optical subsystems to predict performance and refine designs.
• Integrate RF components with optical elements to create cohesive assemblies.
• Perform hands-on testing and validation using RF and optical test equipment and tools.
• Troubleshoot RF-optical interactions and resolve impedance, noise, and loss issues.
• Collaborate with product managers and manufacturing to ensure scalable, cost-effective designs and compliance with standards.
• Document design specs, test procedures, and performance data for milestones and production.
• Research emerging RF-optics technologies to maintain competitive edge.
