Qualifications

  • Knowledge of G and M codes, FANUC, HEIDENHAIN, SEIMENS controls required.
  • Hands-on machining experience essential.
  • Ability to work independently and handle precision.

TheHigh-Speed CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to make or repair tooling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The list below reflects the general details necessary to describe the principle and essential functions of the position and shall not be construed as the only duties that may be assigned for the position.

    • Fit and assemble parts to make or repair tooling, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures
    • Select the appropriate tools, machines, materials, speed, and feeds required to complete the machining of assigned component parts
    • Machine parts to the required specifications up to +or- .00005 tolerances using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and 5-axis machines
    • Utilize precision measuring tools and equipment to ensure the accuracy of machined components
    • Communicate with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information
    • Work independently by utilizing drawings and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to complete all tasks in a safe manner
    • Experience in CNC machine setup and programming
    • Knowledge of Electrical discharge machining
    • Knowledge of speeds and feeds for carbide cutters used in machining tool steels
    • The ability to program conversational and tool path programs in multiple formats
    • Experience with multi-axis, 5-axis simultaneous
    • Blueprint and GD&T concepts knowledge
    • Ability to hold close tolerance to + or - .00005
    • Project management experience

Work Environment/Physical Demands

    • Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear
    • Use hands to work tools, controls, etc.
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Education and Experience

    • High School Diploma or HSED/GED Equivalent
    • Must understand G and M codes and have knowledge of FANUC, HEIDENHAIN and/or SEIMENS controls
