Job summary

Somerville High School in Somerville, MA is seeking an Assistant Cheer Coach for the Winter Season. The coach will teach techniques, choreograph routines, and monitor safety while supporting travel logistics and event nights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree;
• Strong communication skills;
• Knowledge of MSSADA rules;
• Potential for coaching certification;
• Previous coaching and/ or cheering experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Teach cheer techniques, motion, tumbling and stunting; assist with developing routines for sidelines, pep rallies and competitions.
• Monitor athlete safety and ensure proper stunt execution; maintain CPR/AED and safety certifications.
• Assist in planning practices, organizing tryouts, ordering uniforms, and managing travel logistics for games and tournaments.
• Track student-athletes' academic progress and enforce team conduct standards.
• Attend games, competitions and camps to supervise the team and promote a positive, spirited environment.
