Job summary

The School District of Lee County in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Weightlifting Head Coach for the boys' program. The role involves planning practices, developing game strategies, and teaching sport fundamentals to student-athletes.

Qualified candidates will hold a valid Florida teaching certificate or DOE athletic coaching certificate, a valid FHSAA certification, and a current First Aid/CPR/AED credential. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

High school or competitive youth coaching experience required.
Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
Valid FHSAA certification.
First Aid/CPR/AED certificate from AHA or Red Cross.
Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions.
Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and sports rules to student-athletes.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips.
Monitor academic progress and support students in balancing athletics and academics.
Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship among players.
Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations.
Manage and maintain team equipment and uniforms.
Collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling, budget, and facility use.
Maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities.
Enforce all school policies and codes of conduct.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
