Job summary

Platte Valley School District at Platte Valley High School is seeking a Part-Time High School Transition Program Aide to support students in developing post-secondary readiness and life skills.

The role is non-exempt, two days per week, with duties including assisting teachers, supervising students in multiple settings, and coordinating with families and staff to promote independence and employment readiness.

Qualifications

  • Regular attendance is required and essential to the position.
  • Ability to work with students and staff in a school setting.
  • Flexibility to handle varying duties and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in the Transition Program in developing post-secondary readiness, transition, employment, independent living, and life skills.
  • Assist students in developing skills related to employment readiness, including workplace expectations, communication, professionalism, job applications, interviews, task completion, and appropriate workplace behavior.
  • Provide supervision and support in school, community, work-based, and other settings while maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, teachers, service providers, employers, and other team members as directed.
  • Assist with classroom and program organization, materials, documentation, and day-to-day activities.
  • Participate in training and professional learning as assigned.

Salary: Salary placement on our classified salary schedule is dependent on the employee's education and/or work experience. Non-licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of work experience and/or educational attainment up to a maximum of ten (10) years. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee. Notice of Assignment is for 5 days prior to school starting and 5 days after school is finished. Additional days and/or required days throughout the summer as determined and may be added to the notice of assignment at the request of administration based on need with approval from the CFO/COO or Superintendent of Schools.

  • Work with students to reinforce skills and goals identified by teachers and the student's individualized program and transition goals, transition plan, or other individualized supports.
  • Assist students in developing skills related to employment readiness, including workplace expectations, communication, professionalism, job applications, interviews, task completion, and appropriate workplace behavior.
  • Support community-based instruction and learning experiences that promote independence and successful participation in post-secondary settings.
  • Assist students with functional life skills such as organization, time management, self-advocacy, problem solving, communication, personal responsibility, and navigating daily routines.
  • Help students access and use technology and other tools that support independence, communication, education, employment, and daily living.
  • Provide supervision and support in school, community, work-based, and other settings while maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Guide students through independent work, enrichment, remedial activities, and transition-related tasks assigned by program staff.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, teachers, service providers, employers, and other team members as directed.
  • Inform program staff of student progress, concerns, needs, or other relevant information.
  • Assist with classroom and program organization, materials, documentation, and day-to-day activities.
  • Participate in training and professional learning as assigned.
  • Support students across a variety of settings and adapt to individual student needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions and Characteristics:

  • Assist teachers and students with day-to-day activities.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements and to follow district procedures for absence reporting. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position and necessary for the efficient operation of the business. Employees are expected to be on time and punctual for work, conforming to established work hours. It is recognized that there are times when a person must be absent due to illness or other reasons.
  • Prefers a work environment where flexibility, ability to deal with conflict, a high tolerance for stress, an ability to quickly internalize information and make informed decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
