Job summary

Whitefish High School in Whitefish, Montana, is seeking an Assistant Track and Field Coach to join a two-position opening. This role supports the Head Coach and coordinates with Activities/Athletic Director and school administrators.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, MHSA compliance, and CPR/first aid certification, plus coaching experience and a commitment to student safety and program development.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Meets MHSA requirements.
• Possesses a current certified first aid and CPR card.
• Preferred certified teacher.
• Coaching and competition experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports.
• Knowledge of Title IX regulations.

Responsibilities

• Instruction & Coaching: Coaches participants in the skills necessary for the sport, teaches the importance of teamwork, and maintains competency in current rules and coaching techniques.
• Supervision & Leadership: Assumes the duties of the Head Coach in their absence. Supervises students at contests, on road trips, and in locker rooms.
• Operations: Assists the Head Coach in carrying out the overall program, including coordinating training schedules, practice drills, and scouting as directed.
• Accountability: Maintains equipment inventory and enforces training rules and District policies uniformly.
• Professionalism: Serves as a proper role model for youth, demonstrates the ability to accept constructive criticism, and maintains confidentiality regarding student and employment matters.
