Job summary

Ballard CSD’s Ballard High School in Huxley, IA is seeking a dedicated High School Assistant Track Coach. The role involves after-school hours, travel for away games, and collaboration with coaching staff to develop players and game plans.

The candidate must hold a current Iowa Coaching Authorization and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork. Responsibilities include planning training sessions, scouting opponents, providing player feedback, and maintaining a positive team environment

Qualifications

• Current Iowa Department of Education Coaching Authorization is required.
• Experience coaching at youth, middle school, or high school level preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the sport and its rules, coaching techniques and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team.
• Up to date trainings for Ballard (or in progress).

Responsibilities

• Assist with Training: plan and execute training sessions to improve individual skills and team tactics.
• Game Preparation: scout opponents, analyze game footage, develop game plans and strategies.
• Player Development: provide feedback and guidance to players to improve skills and performance.
• Collaborative Leadership: work with coaching staff in decisions during games and practices.
• Skill Instruction: teach specific skills and techniques to players individually and in groups.
• Player Evaluation: assess player performance during practices and games.
• Team Management: assist with scheduling, equipment management, travel arrangements.
• Player Communication: maintain open communication with players to address concerns and foster a positive team environment.
• Community Engagement: represent the team in the community and participate in events.
• Compliance: ensure compliance with school, conference, and state rules and standards.
