Job summary

The teacher will collaborate with special education staff, implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and maintain records. The position emphasizes building a conducive learning climate and meeting professional responsibilities in a state-run educational setting.

Qualifications

• Holds or qualifies for a professional teaching certificate with an endorsement in the required content area and grade level, per WV policy.
• Knowledge to work within the residential school setting and rehab team.
• Experience or certification in special education and/or with at-risk students.
• Background with troubled or disruptive youth.
• Three years of teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement the WV Schools of Diversion and Transition approved program of study.
• Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
• Utilize instructional techniques to increase student learning.
• Monitor progress toward mastery of goals and objectives.
• Identify and select resources and methods for varying needs.
• Collaborate with Special Education Teacher to implement IEPs in lesson plans.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress.
• Meet professional responsibilities.
• Comply with host agency policies and procedures.
• Work with staff to ensure a safe environment and integration of treatment and education goals.
• Maintain and upgrade professional skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned by principal/lead teacher.
