Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools seeks a high school Teacher to plan, design, implement, and assess instructional programs that guide diverse learners toward academic potential. You will monitor progress, prepare students for assessments, and collaborate with administration to create engaging learning experiences.

The role includes working with teachers and staff to promote rigorous, equitable instruction and to support students outside the classroom through activities and supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• Holds or eligible for Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
• Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
• Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
• Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills

Responsibilities

• Establishes a safe and supportive environment conducive to learning and student agency.
• Designs and implements authentic and engaging learning experiences using the Virginia Standards of Learning and LCPS curriculum.
• Designs authentic experiences using resources and technology to promote critical thinking and collaboration.
• Personalizes instruction based on student needs and manages time to maximize learning.
• Assesses student growth relative to goals and outcomes.
• Adheres to LCPS Assessment and Grading policy and guidelines.
• Analyzes assessment data to refine teaching practices.
• Communicates with students and parents about progress.
• Manages student behavior to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Plans instructional activities with other staff to maximize opportunities.
• Supports colleagues and community stakeholders to promote student learning.
• May direct teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers.
