Job summary

Scarborough Public Schools seeks an Assistant Swim Coach for the 2026-27 season at Scarborough High School. Immediate availability.

The role involves instructing athletes, maintaining a safe learning environment, and supporting the growth of the Scarborough Swimming program under Athletic Department direction. The position requires NFHS coaching certifications, First Aid/CPR, CHRC clearance, and adherence to school and district policies.

Qualifications

Previous experience playing and/or coaching swimming at the high school level or higher.
First Aid & CPR/AED certification.
Maine Department of Education valid fingerprinting and CHRC approval.
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Principles Certification or Acceptable Equivalent
NFHS Concussion in Sport Certification
NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certification
NFHS COVID-19 Certification
Other sport specific certifications as directed by the athletic administration.

Responsibilities

Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training for individual and team success while fostering moral values, pride, and self-discipline.
Ensure a safe competitive and educational environment for all student-athletes.
Assist in the development of the Scarborough Swimming program as directed by the Department of Athletics.
