Job summary

Unity Systems in Chicago is seeking a qualified High School Special Education Teacher for a 6-month contract. The role focuses on Social Studies with some Science for students with autism and related needs.

Flexible schedule: full-time, part-time, or substitute opportunities. The ideal candidate will have IL licensure (PEL SPED), experience with IEPs, differentiated instruction, strong classroom management, and collaboration with general education staff, families, and service providers to

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
Valid Illinois teaching license (PEL) with SPED endorsement.
Experience with high school students with Autism and ISBE requirements.
Experience teaching Social Studies; Science instruction preferred.
Knowledge of IEPs and differentiated instruction.
Strong classroom management and collaboration skills.
Ability to work with diverse learners.

Responsibilities

Provide special education instruction to high school students with Autism.
Teach Social Studies primarily, with some Science instruction.
Deliver differentiated lesson plans based on student needs.
Support IEPs and accommodations/modifications.
Monitor progress and document outcomes.
Collaborate with general education staff, administrators, families, and service providers.
Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment.
Support students' academic, social, behavioral, and overall development.
