Job summary

TheraPeds Partners is seeking a part-time, school-based Special Education Teacher (SPED) to support high school students in Newport, NH. The role includes IEP development, case management, and collaboration with families and educators on-site.

The position features 25 hours per week, competitive hourly pay, and dual support from the school district and TheraPeds Partners. Candidates should have NH licensure and experience with IDEA and progress monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field
• State teaching certification in Special Education
• State authorization to provide Special Education teaching services in New Hampshire
• One or more years of experience in a school setting
• Experience working with children and students with disabilities
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development and implementation, and progress monitoring
• Ability to provide individualized and differentiated instruction
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Proficiency with technology used for instruction, documentation, and communication
• Ability to complete required fingerprinting and background clearances
• Ability to collaborate with students, families, educators, administrators, and related-service professionals
• Professionalism, tact, discretion, and respect for student and family confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and related services
• Provide individualized instruction tailored to students' needs
• Manage assigned caseload and coordinate services
• Conduct assessments/evaluations as appropriate
• Monitor progress and collect data toward IEP goals
• Adapt instructional strategies based on student needs
• Prepare progress reports and maintain records
• Participate in IEP/ multidisciplinary meetings
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and specialists
• Support accommodations and modifications across environments
• Create a welcoming, structured learning environment
• Guide staff on instructional strategies for students with disabilities
• Ensure compliance with IDEA and district procedures
