Job summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. seeks a High School Special Education Math Teacher to deliver instruction aligned with New Jersey standards. The role requires NJ certification, effective teaching methods, and the ability to foster a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  • Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Develops lesson plans and classroom learning activities.
  • Promotes active learning in the classroom using board-adopted curriculum and textbooks.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
  • Plans class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students.
  • Monitors student academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction.
  • Maintains records of student's educational progress in class record books and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes.
  • Identifies student needs and provides instruction appropriate to those needs.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Budgets class time effectively.
  • Devises written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the reproduction of facts.
  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
  • Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss student progress.
  • Cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
  • Maintains professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
  • Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
  • Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.

JOB GOAL

To provide an approved education program and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth; to help students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education; and to maintain good relationships with parents and other staff members.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops lesson plans and classroom learning activities

  • Works to achieve the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board-adopted curriculum, board-adopted curricula and textbooks, and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
