Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools seeks a Teacher Consultant for Special Education at Ypsilanti Community High School to support general education staff and students with disabilities. The role focuses on planning instruction, implementing adaptive strategies, and ensuring programs meet student needs through collaboration with teachers and specialists.

The consultant will monitor progress and contribute to student success.

Qualifications

Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate certification.
Two years teaching experience, at least one year in special education.
Master's degree required for Teacher Consultant position.

Responsibilities

Work closely with general education teachers to develop programming for students with special needs.
Provide assistance and instruction in the general education classroom to help students succeed.
Assist in developing instructional behavior plans and positive intervention strategies.
Evaluate and report on achievement and personal adjustment of students on caseload.
Choose, adapt or develop instructional materials appropriate to student ability.
Case manage and monitor student materials appropriate to ability.
Maintain special education records and provide required documents to the Special Education Director.
Lead and participate in child study teams, behavior support teams, IEPCs, 504 meetings, building committees and staff meetings.
Assist students in developing positive study skills and work habits.
Provide instructional support necessary for students to progress in their educational program.
Other duties may be assigned.
