Brooklyn Lab is seeking an exemplary special education teacher who is passionate about delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction and collaborating with families, colleagues, and support teams to drive meaningful outcomes for scholars.

Our extended school day runs 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with a focus on inclusion, individualized feedback, and preparation for high school graduation and college success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the subject area; master’s preferred.
• New York teaching certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Proven academic achievement as student and educator.
• At least two years of experience with students.
• Experience teaching in urban/low-income areas preferred.
• Commitment to LAB’s mission and vision for excellence.
• Growth mindset and ability to collaborate in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction aligned with the Common Core.
• Internalize curriculum to prepare students for high school and college.
• Differentiate instruction and practice inclusive education with small groups.
• Prepare materials for IEP meetings and communicate with families.
• Use formative and summative assessments to improve instruction.
• Lead advisories addressing students' social-emotional needs.
