Job summary

Freire Charter Wilmington is seeking a paraprofessional to support Spanish instruction for an 8th-12th grade program in Wilmington, Delaware. The role focuses on building speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while promoting critical thinking and high achievement within a standards-aligned curriculum.

You will collaborate with teachers, engage families, and contribute to a community that values equity, diverse languages, and student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
• Valid state teaching certification or the ability and willingness to obtain certification.
• Strong content knowledge and grasp of the Spanish language.
• Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done.
• At least 2 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations.

About The Team

For this Paraprofessional position, you’ll be working for our high school in Wilmington, Delaware called Freire Charter School Wilmington (8th-12th Grade): Freire is all about Graduation x 2 – graduation from high school and from college. We challenge our students to achieve higher than they ever have before, and we give them the support they need to get there, including individualized college counseling. 95% of The Class of 2025 received acceptances into 52 unique colleges and universities and earned nearly $4.3M in scholarship award offers. What you’ll do

As a member of Freire's instructional team, you'll bring Spanish to life through high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum that builds students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, pushes critical thinking, and drives high achievement in your classroom.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Pay and benefits

• Salaries for certified teachers in DE entering their first year of teaching start at $55,000. Freire Schools also offers a top-tier benefits package, a strong commitment to developing all staff as professionals, and the opportunity to work with the best students in Wilmington.

The annual salary range for this role is $50,000 - $90,000. We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and more. Delaware employees are enrolled in Delaware’s state pension plan (and may. additionally choose to participate in the state’s 403(b) retirement plan).
