Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking a high school Spanish teacher to join grade-level teams, develop students into global citizens, and prepare them for AP and college work. You will model Spanish communication and use diverse instructional strategies to help students express themselves confidently in a new language.

You will meet weekly with your principal and department colleagues to analyze student work, differentiate instruction, and help shape classroom culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if you do not have an education degree.
• NY state certification eligibility required; certification to be obtained after starting employment.

Responsibilities

• Instruction: build bilingual skills and prep for AP and college coursework; foster speaking, reading, writing, and listening in Spanish; cultivate cultural awareness and community in the classroom.
• Data analysis: meet weekly with principal/coach to review student work and differentiate instruction.
• School culture: build relationships with students and families and participate in weekly meetings to promote core values and student achievement.
