Under the supervision of the School Principal, the Spanish Teacher engages students in learning how to speak, listen, read and write in Spanish and have an appreciation for the culture of the varied countries where Spanish is spoken. Using a shared FLACS Network Spanish Language curriculum aligned with the NYS Learning Standards for World Languages (2021), the Spanish Teacher will design daily lesson plans that are responsive to diverse learning needs of all students including general education, students with disabilities and English Language Learners, and hold all students to high academic expectations. The Spanish Teacher may be required to teach more than one level of Spanish. At FLACS, the Spanish sequence is Spanish I, Spanish II, Spanish III, AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature. An Honors Spanish II/III course is offered as an introductory course to students with extensive prior experience.
