Employee Status: Permanent

Hours Per Week: 40

Work Calendar: 10 Months

Pay Rate: $42,545 - $105,701/yr

Other: Advanced ASL Required

Position Details

The High School Science Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will:

  • Provide quality instruction to students
  • Prepare daily lesson plans
  • Evaluate students' skills to determine the best program of learning
  • Write and implement Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Arizona Academic Standards
  • Current educational and diagnostic practices for sensory impaired students
  • Lesson plan and IEP development
  • Student evaluation practices
  • Policies and procedures of the work unit
  • Principles of administration and management
  • Skilled in: Behavior management, planning and organization, program development, student evaluation
  • Ability to: Communicate effectively, instruct students, complete evaluations, develop lesson plans, work in teams
Requirements
  • Degree in Education with coursework specific to sensory impairments
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement (or ACVREP Certification for Teacher O&M)
  • Necessary coursework for secondary teaching positions
  • Ability to pass FBI and State background checks
