Job summary

Oakland FlexTech High School is seeking a full-time High School Science Teacher in Farmington Hills, MI. The role requires a valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate with an integrated science endorsement and the ability to deliver standards-aligned science instruction.

The teacher will support student growth through engaging, inquiry-based lessons, assessments, and collaboration with families and staff. A progressive, project-based learning approach guides instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Science Education, or related field.
• A master’s degree is a plus.
• Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with Integrated Science endorsement required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned science lessons that meet high school students’ needs.
• Provide instruction across assigned high school science courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth/Space, or related).
• Develop assessments and monitor student performance through tests, quizzes, projects, and labs.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
• Foster scientific inquiry, critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.
• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
• Maintain accurate student records and monitor academic progress.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding progress and concerns.
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and support school improvement initiatives.
• Participate in IEP, Section 504, and other student support meetings as required.
• Integrate instructional technology and hands-on learning to enhance understanding.
• Participate in school activities, meetings, and professional development.
