Position Description

St. Peter's School is seeking an enthusiastic High School Science Teacher to join our middle and high school faculty. We welcome applications from both traditional educators and professionals with strong backgrounds in science, healthcare, research, engineering, environmental science, or related fields who are interested in bringing their expertise into the classroom.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach courses that align with their education, professional experience, and areas of expertise. Potential course assignments include:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Environmental Science

Final course assignments will be determined collaboratively based on the successful candidate's strengths and background.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered science instruction.
  • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with Diocese of Toledo and State of Ohio standards.
  • Incorporate laboratory experiences, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications into instruction.
  • Create a safe, organized, and effective classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Assess student learning, monitor progress, and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.

  • This is a full-time, salaried position with an annual contract and opportunity for renewal. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates should have strong knowledge of science and a genuine interest in educating and mentoring young people. Previous classroom teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Traditional and non-traditional educators are encouraged to apply. We welcome licensed teachers as well as professionals from science, healthcare, research, engineering, environmental science, and related fields who are interested in transitioning into education.

Candidates must:
  • Hold a current Ohio teaching license or possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree and be willing to pursue the appropriate Ohio teaching credential.
  • Demonstrate strong content knowledge in one or more areas of science.
  • Be able to communicate scientific concepts in engaging and accessible ways for high school students.
  • Possess strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community.
  • Successfully complete required FBI and BCI background checks.
  • Complete the Diocese of Toledo VIRTUS safe-environment requirements.
