Job summary

Brooklyn Prospect Charter School is seeking a mission-driven High School Resident Teacher to support a growing network of K-12 schools in Brooklyn. You will differentiate instruction, engage a diverse classroom, and participate in coaching and professional development to ensure student success.

The role emphasizes advisory responsibilities, family partnerships, and collaboration with co-teachers, all within a 10-month, full-time, non-exempt framework in Brooklyn, NY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working in a diverse school community.
• Adept at collaborating and building community with others.

Responsibilities

• Differentiate instruction and learning approaches as needed.
• Teach to an intentionally diverse classroom and engage all students.
• Attend regular coaching meetings with your direct manager and professional development sessions.
• Use data-informed methods to modify and differentiate instruction.
• Serve as an Advisor to students and support their social-emotional well-being.
• Participate in lunch and recess supervision.
• Demonstrate partnership with co-teacher and utilize co-teaching models.
• Model core values and provide opportunities for students to practice them.
• Set the tone of the classroom as a positive place with high expectations and student voice.
• Set clear expectations and routines to create a purposeful, warm learning environment.
• Build relationships with families and provide regular progress updates.
