Job summary

Essex Westford School District is seeking a full-time Paraeducator (Mainstream IA) to support grades 9-12 at Essex High School in Essex Junction, Vermont. The role focuses on academic, behavioral, and personal student support in an inclusive classroom setting.

Responsibilities include implementing IEP-driven strategies, data collection, collaboration with teachers, and helping students develop independence while fostering positive peer interactions within a collaborative school team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with elementary-age children.
• Ability to follow educational and behavior programs.
• Ability to collect data and maintain confidentiality.
• Physical capacity to support student mobility and care needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team.
• Ability to support students with various academic and personal care needs.

Responsibilities

• Support Learning: assist with classroom activities and adapt materials with teachers.
• Support Student Success: implement student-specific support and behavior plans.
• Provide Physical & Personal Care Support: assist with mobility and care needs as appropriate.
• Collect & Track Data: document student performance and progress; assist informal assessments.
• Supervise Students: monitor students throughout the school day and in different settings.
• Collaborate as a Team: work with teachers and staff to maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
