The Hammond Academy of Science and Technology is seeking a High School Math candidate for a full-time teaching position. The school serves roughly 580 students in grades 6-12 with a project-based curriculum and strong instructional technology integration. Certified Indiana teachers or transferable out-of-state certificates are required.

Qualifications

Indiana License to teach in appropriate grade/subject.
Bachelor's or higher degree.
Experience: Teaching: 1 year (Preferred).
Language: English (Preferred).

Responsibilities

Engage students in learning, manage student behavior in a positive, proactive manner to provide a safe learning environment.
Prepare students to become productive, responsible citizens through proactive engagement and modeling.
Create a flexible program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
Establish effective rapport with students and meet individual needs.
Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge for continuing education.
Establish positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
Supervise students within assigned areas as needed.
Develop Lesson plans.
Deliver group and individual instruction within curriculum guidelines.
Provide accommodations and modifications for diverse learners per IEP/504/Health Care Plan or other mandated documents.
Collaborate with teachers and administrators to address classroom issues.
Respond to inquiries from students, parents, guardians about instruction and progress.
Create and support a culture that empowers students.
Encourage inclusiveness and support for all children.

Secondary Math Position Posting

The Hammond Academy of Science and Technology is seeking a High School Math Candidate.

The school currently enrolls approximately 580 students in grades 6-12. The Academy serves a diverse population of students. The curriculum is project-based, reflecting the complexity of the real world. Instructional technology is infused throughout daily instruction and integrated into the curriculum and instructional methodologies. Partnerships with local organizations open the learning environment to the outside world.

Experience with project-based learning is preferable but not required.

Candidates must be certified teachers in the State of Indiana or hold appropriate out-of-state certificates which qualify for transfer to Indiana.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building principal.

Engage students in learning, manage student behavior in a positive, proactive and constructive manner for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Prepare students to become productive responsible citizens through positive proactive engagement and modeling.
Create a flexible program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
Establish effective rapport with students, seek to meet individual student needs.
Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education.
Establish positive relationships with students, parents and other staff members.
Supervise students within assigned areas and as needed.
Develop Lesson plans.
Deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
Provide diverse learners with accommodations and modifications to ensure learning. At a minimum provide the legally required modifications and accommodations as outlined in each child's IEP, 504 plan, Health Care Plan or other legally mandated document.
Collaborate with other teachers, administrators to address instructional and/or classroom issues.
Respond to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents, and guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
Create and support a culture that empowers students.
Encourage a culture of inclusiveness and support for all children.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Students, volunteers, assistants

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Indiana License to teach in appropriate grade/subject

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
