About the position
The High School Algebra I and 2 Teacher will provide instruction in mathematics, specifically focusing on Algebra 1 and 2, to high school students. The role involves setting high academic standards, preparing lesson plans, tracking student performance, and engaging with students and parents. The teacher will also participate in curriculum development and maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
Responsibilities
- Set high academic standards for every student in class while adapting to individual needs.
- Prepare lesson plans in advance that teach core objectives and principles.
- Teach different classes the rules of mathematics in the specific courses.
- Track and report performance data to determine necessary changes and effective strategies.
- Attend special events held by the school and engage with students and/or parents appropriately.
- Attend work a maximum of 5 working days prior to the commencement of classes and two administrative days following the conclusion of the second semester.
- Participate in ongoing curriculum development and attend all teacher meetings and PLCs.
- Communicate with the parents of each student as needed.
- Prepare and present regular oral and written reports to parents concerning their child's education and welfare.
- Maintain student and family confidentiality both on and off campus.
- Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
Requirements
- Experience Teaching High School Mathematics
- Bachelor's degree that included mathematics courses
- Teaching/Temporary Certificate in this field is ideal
- Ability to teach all levels of high school mathematics in Algebra I and II.
- Proficient in the use of instructional technology and methods
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Google Classroom, JupiterEd, Desmos
- Familiarity and sensitivity of the Orthodox Jewish Customs
