Job summary

Research Triangle High School is seeking a substitute teacher to provide instruction in Math 2, ensuring alignment with NC State Standards and maintaining rigorous coursework during the regular teacher’s absence.

The substitute will guide students through Math 2 concepts and preserve continuity of instruction, engagement, and exam preparation, supporting a high school setting oriented toward college readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; background in mathematics or related field preferred.
• Experience teaching or tutoring mathematics (Math 1-4) strongly preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to maintain an engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Report to the school office at the start and end of the day for materials and check-in/out.
• Carry out the program of study prescribed in the lesson plans for Math 2.
• Provide instruction in key Math 2 concepts (algebra, geometry, functions, probability, trig).
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning for high school students preparing for college work.
• Take attendance and maintain orderly classroom management per RTHS policies.
• Set clear expectations for behavior and participation at class start.
• Ensure students are never left unattended in class.
• Perform duties of regular teacher as needed (lunch duty, hall monitoring).
