Job summary

West Chester Area School District East High School in West Chester, PA is seeking a Librarian to lead library programs and instructional services for students and staff. The librarian will manage collections, integrate technology, and collaborate with teachers to support student learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, with a valid Pennsylvania Library Science certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of AASL and ISTE standards and proficiency with computer systems and digital resources, including but not limited to the Internet.
• Demonstrated competence in the use of databases, subscription-based resources, and other research tools.
• Proficiency in using technology to support individual communication and research.
• Ability to effectively use and present technology to enhance information, instruction, and demonstration sessions for small and large groups of students.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate content using best-practice instructional strategies and Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
• Extensive knowledge of MARC records, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and Sears List of Subject Headings.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically with teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, students, support staff, and outside professional contacts.

Responsibilities

• Implement the library curriculum and internet safety instruction across all grade levels per the principal’s schedule.
• Support building staff in library services, programs, and resources.
• Lead in selection, acquisition, and evaluation of research materials and educational resources.
• Remain current on trends affecting library programs and instructional practices.
• Plan and organize professional development and in-service opportunities related to library services.
