Job summary

Clinton Central High School is seeking an experienced High School Instructional Assistant to support classroom instruction for the 26-27 school year. The role includes assisting teachers, supervising students, and using educational technologies to enhance learning.

Starting wage is $16.00 per hour. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred paraprofessional assessment and related coursework. Compliance with district and state requirements is expected.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional assessment or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or similar setting preferred.
• Must meet state, district, and federal requirements for instructional assistants.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce classroom instruction.
• Assist students with assignments, activities, and classroom routines.
• Monitor students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, hallways, and other school activities.
• Support positive student behavior and reinforce classroom and school expectations.
• Assist with student supervision to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
• Provide accommodations and support as directed by the teacher.
• Help track student progress and share relevant observations with the classroom teacher.
• Use classroom technology and educational programs to support student learning.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
• Collaborate professionally with teachers, staff members, and administrators.
• Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development.
• Maintain a substitute teaching permit and substitute on an as needed basis.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• * High school diploma or equivalent required
• * Associate degree, relevant college coursework, or successful completion of the required paraprofessional assessment preferred
• * Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, or similar setting preferred
• * Ability to maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professional judgment
• * Dependable attendance and punctuality required
• * Ability to supervise students and respond calmly and appropriately to student needs
• * Willingness to complete required training, professional development, and background checks
• * Must meet all state, district, and federal requirements for instructional assistants
• * CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Physical Requirements:

• * Ability to maintain visual and auditory awareness of students and the surrounding environment
