Job summary

Distinctive Schools is seeking a High School History Teacher in Chicago, IL. The role reports to the Principal and offers a starting salary of $70,000 for certified teachers. This regular full-time position starts in September 2026.

The teacher will foster a love of learning, maintain strong classroom routines, align instruction to standards, and communicate progress with families while supporting an equitable, inclusive school culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Valid Professional Educator License or equivalent in state of employment or proof of enrollment into a Teacher Certification program within 30 days of employment.
• Content Area Endorsement in related fields of study.

Responsibilities

• Implement the DS Model and grade-appropriate assignments aligned to core curriculum.
• Deliver instruction that engages students and uses checks for understanding.
• Assess students daily, weekly, and at the end of units; analyze data to inform instruction.
• Maintain organized records of student progress and communicate with families.
• Participate in professional development and campus meetings.
• Support a positive classroom culture with restorative practices and equity focus.
