Job Description

High School Head of Sports Performance

Full-Time – 12 months, Exempt, Category 3

Salary Commensurate With Experience

Professional Expertise:

Instruct student-athletes in basictechniques and skills of weightlifting, speed training, and agility/COD drills.

Expertise in Functional Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics, and multiplanar movement necessary for equipping student-athletes to succeed in their craft.

Lead all Assistants of Sports Performance Coaches and ensure that they have a knowledge of fundamental skills, training, and techniques used in the weight room.

Program comprehensive, appropriate workout plansfor all athletic teams at the high school level and for athletes seeking individual guidance.

Communicate with coaches about weight room scheduling (Pre-Season, In-Season, Off-Season & Summer).

Plan and teach the high school strength and conditioning class throughout the academic school year (2 sections per semester).

Plan and lead weekly meetings with Sports Performance Staff.

Personal Behavior:

Provide instruction and guidance to all student-athletes throughout the athletic program that will lead to positive values, acceptable behavior, and self-discipline with a Christian emphasis.

Display responsible professional Christian conduct both in and out of the competitive arena and help with spiritual leadership across the athletic department.

Communicate with the Head of Athletics regarding conflict resolution for weight room scheduling.

Communicate with Head ATC, members of the ATC staff, and head coaches about injuries and return to play protocols.

Facility/Fiscal/Equipment:

Communicate with the campus facility management team and custodial staff regarding maintenance/cleaning of the weight room facility and equipment.

Communicate with the Head of Athletics on budgeting and equipment orders for the weight room.

Maintain a strict inventory of all equipment.At the end of the school year, the Head of Sports Performance will submit a copy of the inventory to the Head of Athletics.

Community/Parent Relationships:

Responsible for good public relations with the faculty, staff, parents, and community.

Promote all the school’s sports among student-athletes, parents, and staff.

Assist with communications to parents when needed.

Other Responsibilities:

Display to each student-athlete a respect for the Lord, school property, and a keen awareness of upholding a positive attitude towards the athletic program, school, and community.

Oversee daily hours of Assistants of Sports Performance Staff.

Oversee daily use/storage of weight room technology devices.

Manage alumni clearance forms and organize their usage of the weight room throughout the school day/school breaks.

Knowledge of Team Buildr, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.

Approved Strength and Conditioning Certifications, which could include:

Certification from National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS)

Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA)

USA Weightlifting (USAW)

Functional Movement Systems (FMS)

Certification in Applied Functional Science (CAFS)

American Heart Association CPR certification.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in positions involving the development and management of sport-specific individual and group training programs.
