High School Girls Head Wrestling Coach

Job Description

• Exhibit knowledge of the sport.
• Adhere to all laws of the State of Washington in regards to conduct between a teacher (coach) and student (athlete).
• Teach sportsmanship, respect, skills, and healthy living; mentor and set an example for athletes. Promote academics first and provide the best opportunity for each student’s success.
• Work with other coaches, officials, and administrators professionally and courteously.
• Supervise assistant coaches (paid and unpaid) in collaboration with the athletic director.
• Follow the season opening and closing procedures as set forth by the athletic director.
• Use sound and acceptable teaching practices for appropriate skill levels defined by professional organizations for the sport.
• Maintain compliance with WIAA coaching standards and provide copies of records to the athletic director.
• Refrain from disrespectful conduct toward players, parents, school administrators, game officials, community members, and the media (foul language, improper dress, improper physical contact).
• Run well‑organized practice sessions.
• Set and enforce discipline standards for the team.
• Keep accurate records of eligibility, statistics, discipline, and attendance; ensure all athletes are eligible before practice.
• Refrain from use of tobacco and alcohol while athletes are present; violation may result in immediate dismissal.
• Supervise appropriately before, during, and after practices, conditioning, or competition and ensure students are picked up before leaving the facility.
• Promote the sport to students, parents, community, and media; call in varsity scores to media outlets as established by the athletic director.
• Continue education regarding new rules, coaching techniques, and teaching methods.
• Cooperate with all middle and high school level coaches to plan and organize the sport program.
• Pay is based on the current extra‑curricular salary schedule.
• Must pass a valid Washington State Background Check.
