Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment organization, is currently seeking High School English Teachers for the 2026-2027 academic yearat independent schools in the Savannah, GA area.

Responsibilities
  • Teach several sections of ELA, English courses for upper school students.
  • Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students.
  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies to teach students both in small groups and one‑on‑one settings.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies that support consistent routines and student accountability.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design and development.
  • Provide updates to parents about student progress, via both written reports and in‑person conferences.
  • Design and administer assessments to measure student achievement and growth.
  • Serve as an advisor for a group of students, offering support, mentorship, and guidance to help them thrive academically and personally.
  • Participate in extracurricular responsibilities, including assisting with sports teams or monitoring student clubs and events.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Humanities, Education, or related required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of English teaching experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with upper school students.
  • Ability to teach full range of high school English courses.
  • No teaching license or credential is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
  • Detail‑oriented and resilient.
Additional Desired Qualities
  • A desire to be involved in extra‑curricular activities as well as the broader school community.
  • Experience working in independent schools preferred, not required.
