Are you Passionate about leading and educating the next generation? Calvary Chapel High School is looking a High School English and Student Success teacher. This Position is for the 2025-2026 School Year and is expected to start late July, early August.

Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (CCCM) is a Jesus Formed Community on Mission. Community, Formation and Mission are the three main ways that we believe we are to live out our discipleship to Jesus. Through Gospel teaching, training, and resources, God’s people are enabled to take their discipleship into their own hands by living out the listening, serving and helping posture of Jesus in our church community.

Calvary Chapel Schools (CCS) was established to meet the educational, social, and spiritual needs of the children of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa. CCS is a ministry of CCCM, building up Christian leaders in mind, body, and soul through Biblical truth, character development, and strong academic pursuits, enabling students to serve and enjoy Christ and their community.

Position Purpose / Summary

As the Calvary Chapel High School (CCHS) English and Student Success teacher, you would be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a robust instructional program that would guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic and spiritual potential. As the Student Success teacher you would be working to support High School students with completing homework, continuing assessments, communicating with teachers and implementing executive functioning skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. They will be a minister of the Gospel in this position by ministering and praying for and with the students and parents as well as being an example to the staff, students, and parents.

Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks

  • Agree with and live out the vision and values of CCCM as outlined in the Statement of Faith (www.cccm.com).
  • Be an example to those with whom you come in contact and with whom you serve by exuding the love of Christ.
  • Understand that it is a privilege to serve the Lord in vocational ministry and that those who serve God on staff at CCCM are expected to embrace a high biblical, Christ-like standard of conduct and lifestyle, both public and personal.
  • Develop and implement Literature, Grammar, and Composition lesson plans and instructional activities that promote active learning and student engagement.
  • Utilize prescribed curriculum to set and communicate clear objectives for learning activities.
  • Monitor and support student progress through timely feedback and instructional adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and development in the SIS system.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and colleagues regarding academic progress and needs.
  • Contribute to the teaching and learning community outside the classroom through participation in meetings, committee involvement, and supervision of enrolled students while on campus.

Knowledge Skills And Ability Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education with an English emphasis, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • California teaching credential in English (Single Subject)
  • Deep understanding of English literature, composition, and grammar across a variety of genres and periods.
  • Ability to teach analytical and creative writing, critical reading, and literary analysis at the high school level.
  • Experience developing curriculum aligned with standards and school values.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to collaborate professionally and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in a professional setting

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience supporting students with learning differences and individualized plans (e.g., IEP, 504).
  • Familiarity with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and appropriate accommodations.
  • Proficient in Google Classroom and Google Keep for classroom and student management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to support executive functioning skills in students.
  • Familiarity with Christian worldview integration in literature and writing instruction.
  • Comfortable using writing portfolios and rubrics to assess student growth over time.
