Job summary

Hackensack Public Schools seeks an English Teacher at Hackensack High School for grades 9–12 for the 2026-2027 school year.

The teacher will deliver rigorous, culturally responsive instruction, develop literacy, writing, speaking, listening, and critical-thinking skills, and collaborate with families and colleagues to support diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Hold a New Jersey instructional English Teacher certificate.
• Knowledge of secondary English language arts curriculum, adolescent literacy, writing instruction, literary analysis, and research-based instructional practices.
• Ability to plan and deliver differentiated instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, multilingual learners, and students receiving academic intervention.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

The High School English Teacher provides rigorous, culturally responsive English language arts instruction for students in grades 9–12. The teacher develops students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, research, and critical-thinking skills through the study of literature, nonfiction, language, rhetoric, and composition.
