Job summary

Aitkin Public Schools invites a long-term English teacher substitute for grades 7 and 10, 7:30–3:30, Monday through Friday, from November 20, 2026 to April 12, 2027. The substitute will follow Minnesota standards and collaborate with the high school team to deliver engaging English instruction.

A four-year degree is required; MN English licensure is preferred. Strong communication, collaboration, and experience with grades 7–12 are essential to support student language skill development.

Qualifications

• Current MN English Licensure preferred; all applicants with a 4-year degree encouraged.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working with students in grades 7-12.

Responsibilities

• Teach English courses at the high school level following Minnesota state standards.
• Develop engaging lesson plans that promote language acquisition, speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
• Incorporate technology and real-world applications to enhance learning.
• Assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Participate in professional development and school activities as required.
• Establish and maintain high standards for the educational experience of students.
