Job summary

Fall River Public Schools seeks a Department Head to provide leadership in curriculum and instruction across the department. You will supervise teachers, coordinate district curriculum objectives, and teach one class in your certification area, while ensuring resources and assessments align with state frameworks.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts educator license for subject area is required.
• Massachusetts educator license for Supervisor/Director is required.
• Master’s Degree in the relevant subject area is required.
• Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience at the appropriate level.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development and implementation of district curriculum objectives with the curriculum directors.
• Teach one class in area of certification.
• Evaluate staff as directed by the Principal.
• Observe classrooms on an ongoing basis.
• Assist teachers with instructional problems and serve as curriculum resource.
• Ensure lesson plans meet curriculum requirements and have necessary materials.
• Meet with teachers during preparation times.
• Recommend curriculum development, implementation, assessment and program innovation.
• Oversee department supplies, textbooks, and equipment needs.
• Assist in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and assigning staff.
• Provide in-service training based on needs from district and school improvement plans.
• Develop and utilize community resources for department needs.
• Keep abreast of progress and new developments in the field.
• Collect results of official assessments and documentation for school improvement plans.
