Position Details

Title: High School Assistant Coach
Reports To: Director of Athletics & High School Head Coach
Salary: Stipend

Position Goal

The successful candidate will create a safe, positive environment that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes safe conditions per PIAA, league, sports medicine, and RSD policies. Responsibilities include assisting student-athletes in life skills, fostering school pride, connecting with youth programs, teaching through athletics, and fundraising.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Preferably experience in supervision roles within athletics, recreation, education, or related fields
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in diverse environments

Essential Functions

• Supervise student-athletes
• Stay current with coaching techniques, rules, and best practices
• Monitor for safety and prevent injuries
• Support student-athletes' development in sport and life
• Communicate effectively with staff, officials, media, parents, and spectators
• Ensure safety measures and proper equipment use
• Attend training and staff meetings
• Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Verify eligibility according to PIAA and district policies
• Secure equipment and facilities after use
• Coordinate with district administration, safety, custodial, and law enforcement as needed
• Engage with youth groups to promote participation
• Model good behavior for student-athletes
• Support all district athletics programs

Physical Requirements

• Perform coaching skills physically
• Detect noises and signals in crowded facilities
• Work in various weather conditions
• Lift at least 20 pounds
