Position Description: East Kentwood High School is seeking a motivated CTE Computer Science Teacher to provide high quality and relevant business curriculum that will support student engagement. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the CTE Business Instructor will develop student business, technology, and innovation skills and competencies as described in the State of Michigan Curriculum for CIP (52.0299 Business Services and Technology). Other potential CIP qualifications may also include: Information Technology 11.1000
Essential Job Functions:- Design, develop, and deliver high quality, innovative, and relevant business instruction, utilizing best practices of instruction, including authentic learning opportunities that give the students’ real-world, industry standard experience. Facilitate work-based learning experiences for students (field trips, job shadows, internships, and possible job placement opportunities).
- Monitor the Business program budget, determining needs and placing orders as needed. Serve on the CTE Advisory Committee for East Kentwood High School.
- Promote and market the EKHS Business program.
- In addition to CTE courses, teach other courses using district curriculum as assigned/needed. Conduct work in a manner that reflects high levels of professional practice and conduct.
- Integrate appropriate technology within culinary courses to enhance instruction. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and professional colleagues. Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and administration. Monitor, assess and report student progress toward learning targets and curriculum. Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Establish a cooperative relationship with students that maintains high expectations for all. Engage in professional growth activities to stay current with research-based best practices. Comply with all policies and procedures of the District.
- Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements: Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Successful experience in Business Innovation & Technology instruction preferred. Knowledge of business & innovation and the ability to develop these skills in students. Ability to work in an economically, culturally and racially diverse environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and professional networking skills. Experience working in a High School environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with a focus on student learning. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction, by using a variety of styles, and inspire mixed culture and ability classes by creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to work in an economically, culturally and racially diverse environment.
Professional Qualifications:- Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with Business endorsement in CTE (CIP Code 52.0299) preferred or other qualifying business related CIP code; Or qualify for Annual Occupational Authorization (ACA) – Minimum of two years or 4,000 hours (within last 6 years) of recent and relevant work experience in a business or Information Technology field. Note: The ACA route requires a commitment to attain the appropriate certification and endorsement within 7 years.
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certification in a core area preferred; including but not limited to:

- Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate.
- Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
