Job summary

Ysleta Independent School District seeks a School Counselor to support academic, social-emotional, and career development for students in a comprehensive program aligned with the ASCA model.

You will collaborate with parents, faculty, and staff to deliver classroom guidance, individual and group counseling, and system-wide support while adhering to district policies and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• Texas School Counselor certification (Pre-K through 12) required.
• Two years of full-time creditable teaching experience (Pre-K through 12) required.
• Knowledge of educational programs and ability to work with students, parents and school personnel.
• Texas/New Mexico driver’s license, insurable by the district’s auto liability insurance carrier.
• Subject to district drug and alcohol testing policy and regulation.

Responsibilities

• Assist and collaborate with the Department of Guidance and Counseling in implementing the district guidance and counseling plan and establish short and long term counseling goals.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate a balanced comprehensive developmental guidance program at each campus to serve all students, including special needs students.
• Coordinate ongoing drug awareness programs and participate in development/public relations programs.
• Collect and track mandated student data, follow up on graduates and referrals, and provide support for SPED/ELL/CTE services.
• Assist Testing Coordinator and Principal with mandated tests.
• Increase graduation rates and smooth transitions for students PK–12.
• Establish vertical alignment of the counseling program PK-12 and integrate SEL across campuses.
• Document student audits and collaborate with Central Office and staff for consistency.
• Participate in professional development trainings and counseling-related topics.
• Support ADHD strategies and counselor/CIS roles in collaboration with academic departments.
• Serve on Campus Crisis Management Team/EOP and pursue personal professional growth.
• Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions.
