Job summary

Lake County Tech Campus in Illinois seeks a Construction Skills and Management Instructor to teach high school students in carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and safety, preparing them for trades or construction management careers.

Responsibilities include developing curriculum, coordinating with districts, maintaining a safe classroom, supporting job placement, and collaborating with local business partners; the position is nine-and-a-half months, full-time, with salary per the union

Qualifications

• Must meet all qualifications for the appropriate license through the Illinois State Board of Education
• Strong knowledge of the course content and ability to convey it to students
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Criminal background check required
• Experience in Construction, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical & HVAC preferred
• Experience developing courses or online materials preferred
• Experience with the latest tools, technologies, and innovations in the industry preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement program curriculum with a focus on carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and safety
• Organize and manage the program to promote instructional objectives and student outcomes
• Use diverse techniques and materials aligned with curriculum and student needs
• Provide opportunities for student planning, participation, and evaluation of activities
• Maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment and healthy learning conditions
• Develop and implement Program Pathways and program displays for administration
• Assist special needs students and support job placement for students
• Maintain communication with district teachers about curriculum and instructional methods
• Collaborate with local business and industry partners and advisory committees
• Standards adherence: non-discrimination and professional conduct at all times
