Job summary

Harmony School of Excellence - Laredo seeks a dedicated counselor to support college and career readiness for students from freshman year onward. You will work with teachers, parents, and students to plan and implement programs that promote college matriculation and timely graduations.

You will mentor students and families, providing individualized guidance and coordinating college admission and financial aid activities to ensure strong postsecondary outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 2 years of teaching or counseling experience (preferred).
• Valid Texas Counseling Certification (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the campus leader, provide college and career counseling to students through planned activities in small groups or classrooms.
• Create access to college resources and opportunities to support students through 1-1 and small group meetings.
• Provide individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families on academic matters.
• Assist in scheduling and informing staff, students, and parents about curriculum offerings and college-related programs.
• Develop and implement curricula that support exploration of career options and the college application process.
• Guide students through financial aid processes, timelines, and district expectations.
• Coach students through the financial aid process and offer guidance on scholarships and awards.
• Maintain a year‑round support system including summer activities to prepare for four-year college matriculation.
