Job Summary

Mora High School is seeking a 17FTE Business Teacher with a strong emphasis on computer applications. The ideal candidate will be passionate about preparing students for college and career success in an increasingly digital world. This position will primarily be responsible for teaching multiple sections of Computer Applications. The teacher will foster a dynamic and interactive learning environment where students develop essential technological literacy, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of business principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Computer Applications Instruction:
    • Develop and deliver engaging curriculum for Computer Applications courses, covering topics such as:
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
    • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Classroom)
    • Digital Citizenship and Online Safety
    • Basic coding concepts or web design (optional, depending on course level/scope)
    • Data management and organization
    • Keyboarding and touch‑typing proficiency
    • Effective use of educational technology tools
    • Introduction to emerging technologies relevant to business.
    • Design and implement hands‑on projects, simulations, and real‑world scenarios to apply computer application skills.
    • Assess student proficiency in computer applications through various methods
  • Curriculum Development and Alignment:
    • Develop, update, and implement curriculum that aligns with Minnesota Academic Standards for Business and Technology Education.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Classroom Management:
    • Establish and maintain a positive, productive, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
    • Implement effective classroom management strategies and behavioral expectations.
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Assess student learning regularly using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administration, students, and parents/guardians.
    • Participate in departmental, school, and district meetings and professional development opportunities.
    • Communicate student progress and concerns to parents/guardians as needed.
  • Professionalism:
    • Adhere to district policies, procedures, and professional ethics.
    • Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development and training.
    • Actively contribute to the positive culture and climate of Mora High School.
Qualifications
  • Licensure: Valid Minnesota teaching license in Business Education (5‑12) with demonstrated expertise in computer applications.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience teaching computer applications at the high school level is preferred.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of computer software and applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
    • Experience integrating technology effectively into instruction.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Excellent pedagogical skills and knowledge of best practices in secondary education.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
