Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of business leaders and innovators? SMA is seeking a dynamic and dedicated High School Business/Marketing Teacher and DECA Sponsor. In this dual role, you will teach courses that equip students with essential business, marketing, and entrepreneurial skills, and lead and mentor our award-winning DECA chapter. As the DECA sponsor, you’ll guide students through competitive events, leadership conferences, and real-world projects that foster creativity, collaboration, and career readiness. If you’re a motivated educator with a knack for connecting classroom learning to practical experiences, we invite you to shape the future of our students and community.

This part-time position (40%) is responsible for teaching a variety of courses, including Introduction to Business, Business Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Business Communication, and Introduction to Finance and Entrepreneurship. All courses follow the Colorado Career Clusters Model of providing education in business, marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, and public administration. The DECA Sponsor role ensures compliance with all relevant regional and state DECA association rules, organizes and develops DECA activities, and chaperones students at local/state/national competitions. DECA oversees an apparel-selling operation and operates concessions at various sporting events.

Your Impact

  • Shape future business leaders by teaching business, marketing, entrepreneurship, and finance courses.
  • Guide our students in running real-world business operations, including the SMA apparel store and event concessions.
  • Lead our DECA chapter, which has grown from 9 to 37 members in just three years.
  • Mentor students who compete and win at district, state, and national levels.
  • Build lasting connections with business professionals and community partners.

Program Leadership and Responsibilities

  • Lead core business courses aligned with the Colorado Clusters Model through 45-minute classes.
  • Coach students in DECA competitions, developing their skills in role-play and written events.
  • Guide student-led business enterprises that make a real community impact.
  • Oversee co-curricular DECA program with competitive events and hands-on business operations.
  • Manage program budget and resources.
  • Participate in national DECA conferences across the country (Orlando, Atlanta, Anaheim, and San Francisco).
  • Build lasting relationships with parents, alumnae, and business community partners.

What You Bring

  • Passion for business education and student leadership development.
  • BA or MA in a business discipline.
  • A Colorado Teaching License or Colorado State Vocational Credential is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Authorization in business and marketing is preferred.
  • Experience in teaching business-related courses and leading DECA.
  • Excellence in communication and relationship building.
  • Strong curriculum development skills.
  • A talent for sparking students’ entrepreneurial curiosity.

A search is underway to identify a new Business/Marketing Teacher and DECA Sponsor for the 2025-2026 school year.

Salary/Benefits:

The Salary range for this teaching position (40%): $20,000 - $27,000. Plus a DECA Sponsor Stipend: $4,000.
