Qualifications

• The assistant coach must hold a teaching certificate or substitute certificate as specified.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible to the head coach and uphold its philosophy within the athletic program.
• Know and follow NJISAA rules, in-season and out-of-season guidelines.
• Serve as a role model for student athletes and assume program leadership when needed.
• Assist in distributing and collecting equipment and ensuring proper locker room conduct.
• Check permission slips, rosters, emergency cards, insurance, and eligibility lists.
• Record injuries and report to athletic trainer within 24 hours; assist in supervision scheduling.
• Attend pre-season meetings and post-season evaluations; scout and evaluate opponents.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned to support interscholastic athletics.

Education

Teaching certificate (State Board of Education) or substitute teaching certificate (Sussex County)
