Job summary

• Teaches knowledge and skills in biology with district curriculum.
• Promotes critical and creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area and translates plans into learning experiences.
• Designs learning activities demonstrating the application of science to everyday life through labs and projects.
• Instructs students in proper use and care of scientific equipment and materials.
• Assesses student learning and adjusts instructional methods to meet individual needs.
• Keeps up-to-date with current developments in education by professional development.
• Maintains records, grading, and reporting per district procedures.
• Engages parents and communicates student progress effectively.
• Coordinates with staff and participates in meetings and committees.
• Selects and requisitions books and supplies and maintains inventory.
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
• Communicates electronically with students, parents and staff about academic progress.
• Supports Project Based Learning and curriculum integration.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal or supervisors.
