Job summary

KIPP Columbus is seeking a Behavior Assistant with experience in a school setting to support students with behavioral needs. The role involves implementing behavior plans, providing individual and small-group support, and collaborating with teachers and behavior specialists.

The position requires an active Ohio educational aide permit and a minimum of 1 year in a school environment, along with training in behavior management and de-escalation techniques.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a school-based Behavior Assistant.
• Minimum 10 hours training in behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
• Training in de-escalation techniques.
• Active educational aide permit through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in following behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and IEP goals.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with challenging behaviors.
• Use reinforcement strategies and de-escalation techniques to address behavior concerns.
• Monitor and document student behavior and intervention effectiveness.
• Support teachers in managing classroom behavior and promoting a positive learning environment.
